Although this installment felt fairly formulaic and really didn’t hold my interest as previous books have done, it was the awful narration that earned it two stars. The narrator’s ponderous droning and inability to enunciate mid-word “l” sounds combined with pronounced hard “g” sounds in every “ing” had me wincing. Throw in her inconsistent accents and bizarrely childlike voice and it was difficult to focus on the story at all. Increasing the speed in the app helped keep me from giving up on the book out of sheer boredom – but just barely.
