This book is nothing like the nightlord books while at the same time being exactly like them with a little monster hunter international mixed in. Felix is just a guy who, for a slave owner, is actually a really good guy. To me he resembles Eric from the nightlord books in that he starts with basically nothing, and falls bass ackwards into hundreds of people depending on him and trusting him.
