Turn to JN Chaney when you want a book that’s quick and to the point.

I’m sure these books are fantastic for some people. There’s not an awful lot of introspection here amongst the main characters, except in trying to be, say, better than the other guys. Not an awful lot of worldbuilding. There are just events.

I just tend to think that it’s a better book when you have more well realized characters, more worldbuilding, or some other hook. The book’s perfectly fine at being what it is.

Narration was good.
