Caveat: I have listened to only books 1-3!
After listening to the first book I was planning to recommend this series to my 12 year old son. Well that changed! The content is more “adult” and I generally found the male fantasy indulgence over the top, And frankly, not just over the top but also off-putting. Via masterful story telling in book the author birthed a deep connection between me and the character. That connection was weakened as a result of the author’s over indulgence, but I went ahead and purchased the next book in the series. As I started book 3 I reacted to the initial chapters with fear and disappointment. Initially it seemed that that over sexualization and stereo types were now the defining characteristics of this series, To my unexpected delight the tenderness that the author drew out of me in the latter chapters was redeeming. I am now eagerly starting book 4 with great expectations.
TLDR: Things get risque, and play to the stereotypical male ego in this book. Rated PG13 or more. However, I personally found book three redeeming.
