Stupid fun. Likely worth your money.

I went into this series “un-sold” on whether or not I would enjoy it. I am a picky reader with high standards for any fiction I decide to consume.

Ends up I had a real treasure on my hands and didn’t realize it until the first book was almost over. I am now on book four, and the journey has been quite a ride already.

This series tells the charming and somewhat relatable story of Lindon and his journey to be the strongest sacred artist in the world. Part of me wondered how a book would pull this off when this sort of story is normally confined to manga. However – it ends up this genre translates wonderfully to books.

Unsouled has a clever protagonist with battles and training arcs that end up resembling the best of Dragonball while being able to produce its own original content. Similarly, it has a protagonist that makes meaningful and (most important) human realizations about himself and the world he lives in. And it is all wrapped up with a great main cast and a story that works great with the setting and main premise of “becoming and being strong” in body, mind, spirit, and heart. Eithan and Yerin (sp?) are great.

If you wish you could find a battle manga that explores the person and their emotions, then this is the book for you. And if you don’t, it’s likely still worth a listen because I am willing to bet you have never read anything quite this crazy.
