If you’re looking for a thorough book describing the Bundy Murders and trial- this is it. This book truly gives a deep insight to one of Americas most infamous murders. It details his childhood, university life, entrance to law school, political career, trial, escape, capture, execution, and all the murders he committed in-between. The book also does a fantastic job of giving the listener the perspective of law enforcement as they attempt to catch the madman.
The narrator is perfect the for book, and definitely gave a 5 star performance. He has a deep and gruff voice that’s very relaxing. I imagine an old sheriff or seasoned detective telling the story over coffee and a cigarette. He reads the book in the perfect tone as well. It’s not ‘exciting’ or ‘monotone’, but rather solemn and somber. When you’re reading a story about a woman being raped and strangled to death by a psychopath, there’s really no other way to read it without sounding silly or disrespectful. Kevin Pierce did a perfect job of telling these horrific stories in this manner.
The only real issue I have with the book is the format. It seems to jump around quite a bit, and while I recognize what the author what trying to do and some people might like it, but I didn’t care for it personally.
The author obviously worked very hard compiling the information and succeeded in writing a thrilling book. I highly recommend this to any fan of true crime or with an interest in the Bundy murders in general.
