The red heels on the cover are appropriate for Femme, but the Really important part is that well deserved gold Lambda Literary Award medal for “Best Gay Romance” finalist.
Femme is an enjoyable, funny m/m romance that starts when the MCs wake up the morning After… It is also a book about the masks we wear & the stereotypes we fit ourselves & others into, and how much more amazing things are when we move beneath/beyond those layers in our interactions w/ others. People in the story behave as badly as real people often do, but Marshall Thornton doesn’t drag us through angst & mud to get that across. Instead the characters are wonderful and Joel Leslie does an excellent job bringing them to life.
I decided to listen to “a few minutes” of Femme before bed – 6 hrs & 23 min later: the book was over, the sun was up & sleep never quite got more important than “a few More minutes” of the story! Oops… Definitely a repeat listen.
