Long on made-up scenarios to justify being prepared, short on plot and pacing. Starting with the power going out, the book never really gets very far. The author seems to prefer to illustrate how to think in such a disaster. That is useful information but so much focus on teaching a lesson (and trying to prove that preppers have got it right) makes for a patronizing story.
Character development is spotty, too. And the narration, unnecessarily spilt between two narrators, is at times awkward. Like listening to a high-school student read a book report.
Overall it’s not a bad book, but it might have made a better after-school type video, shown at a prepper conference.
