Fun, silly, tactical, with just a rare hint of disturbing. I work in the video game industry and at first all the game mechanics details felt so accurate it was like being dragged through the game design documents I have to read every day at work. The writer has CLEARLY done complex game design IRL. But the writing was so fun that even I got sucked into it and it stopped feeling like going to work, and more like playing the game. The voice narrator is unbelievably talented, one of the best I’ve ever heard in the hundreds of audiobooks I’ve listened to. Thrilled that it’s the start of a series.
