I’ve finished and enjoyed the Galaxy Outlaws and Mirth & Mayhem series. This one is just sappy, juvenile and tiresome. I do not have sufficient suspension of disbelief to think that Espyr, after having spent years upon years in Mortania, is really incapable of holding people accountable for their bad actions. She’s naive and naivete is not the same thing as compassion or kindness. She can’t mind her own business and believes she knows what is best for others, robbing them of agency in their own lives.
I get it that she is supposed to be looking for clever and peaceful solutions to problems, but it just doesn’t ring true. She’s irritating and I don’t like her.
I’m going to return this one, much as I would love to have 92 hours of listening for only one credit.
