This book was more in line with the first book but suffers from many of the same problems.

A dragon and mage meet and instantly fall in love. Little other plot develops. Some is alluded to but not actually pursued.

The relationships portrayed are pretty idealized and even for a fantastical setting, stretch credulity.

The sex is unnecessary and becomes more distracting than erotic.

The narrator does a good job bringing these characters to life but…that poor man has to do so many characters with accents. Some blur together but all considered that’s forgivable.
