Based on the title and premise I was really hoping this would be a book about a hench and their shenanigans working for a villain. I’ve always kind of wanted to read a book from that perspective but that’s not this. I’m not even sure why hench is in the title because the dude goes from hench to having powers practically instantly.
The writing is ok, though it’s pretty crunchy (not in a good way). It just doesn’t stand out to me as an overly interesting or unique story. It didn’t grab me.
