Along with “The Stranger Beside Me” and “In Cold Blood” this book gripped me completely & didn’t let me go until the end. Jack Olsen truly seeks to give you Frederick Harlan Coe’s back story & why he did what he did. I loved his enduring focus on the victims and his sensitivity to them & the horror they endured at the hands of a true psychopaths. This book was ahead of its time as far as explaining why men rape & sought to explain rape as a crime of rage not lust. This was not well known in 1983 when the book was published. Truly a classic of the genre. Narrator was perfect as well.
