The idea here appealed to me. But the execution was just, well, adequate. The main aspect that dragged, for me, was that the protagonist was, um, always punching someone or being punched. It just… dragged. Yawn. Another fist fight for, um, why, exactly? ‘You will prove yourself to me…’ Hey, um, go fight the monsters, maybe? Please?

As with so many other such books as this, who is the real enemy? The Old Ones and Great Ones and whichever or the others are slipping through dimensional rifts? Or, other people?
