I love Sage (MC), his sarcasm, and his insecurities. The author, Sam Burns, does a great job of showing Sage’s journey from someone who doesn’t feel he has any value to someone who’s starting to believe he has a right to exist and be happy. Wonderful characters to fall in love with and a good plot that quietly builds throughout the story to an exciting and happy ending. One of, if not the best book I’ve read in years, and exactly what I’ve been looking for in a story.
More of a M/M fantasy tale with romance than a romance in a supernatural setting.
Joel Leslie does a fantastic job narrating/performing the story. Sage’s sarcasm and nervousness come through clearly. Leslie gives each character a different and fitting voice. Some listeners might feel that Leslie is speaking too quickly, but I feel this reflects Sage’s insecurities and nervousness, as well as conveying the seriousness of dangerous situations.
