Detective Jordan Poe is very good at her job. She gives it everything she’s got, and she prefers to work alone. But she doesn’t always get what she wants.

Enter: Texas Ranger Carter Spencer. He’s lean and lithe, and pure charisma. He’s also serious about his job, and equally good at it. Now, he’s been given Poe’s case, and she isn’t happy. But holy cow, Carter Spencer. What a character. He’s more than just a head turner. He’s sharp, intelligent, calm and steady. He’s good at catching verbal and nonverbal cues, and intuitively reads his reluctant new “partner” well. Can we clone him?? He’s definitely a keeper.

This case is twisted and deviant, with some seriously brutal characters. It may contain triggers for some readers, and definitely contains graphic violence and adult situations. The personalities in this story are nicely fleshed out and balance each other well, especially Spencer and Poe. This fast-paced, page turning read richly earns its thriller designation. With a full cast of narrators, the audiobook is tough to put down and easy to enjoy.
