This is the first TJ Klune book I’ve read/listened to and I was struck by the style of writing which has an almost ballad narrative. The repetition of “stanzas” has a melodic quality that lends to an oral tradition of story telling. Is there such a thing as an epic ballad? Or maybe a balladic saga? I found the characters/story compelling and evocative. I love that we get a whole picture of how the main characters essentially grew up and grew into themselves together, all while creating a complex family unit. Kirt Graves does an amazing job giving life and harmony to this story.
