Unsouled is the start of an epic sci-fi/fantasy story about a scrappy young boy’s journey to learn the sacred arts to save his village from a Godzilla-like monster. It starts off with Lindon, the main character, having a chance encounter with a super-powerful being (sort of like a normal human meeting Frieza). He learns that in 40 years his village will be destroyed by a very powerful monster and that the only way to stop this monster is to level up in the sacred arts, acquire legendary weapons, and make powerful friends.

In my opinion, this series can best be described as Final Fantasy meets Dragon Ball. The world is very unique and imaginative. The main character is smart and relatable. The narrator is great and has different voices for different characters. I also like the fact that the main character started his life out as an underdog and has to find creative ways to win against stronger opponents.

The only thing that I have mixed feelings on is the crazy Dragon Ball power scale for this universe. It takes a while to get used to the fact that a level zero character is a normal human, an average power level character is like Superman, and a max power level character can manipulate time and destroy worlds!
