I LOVE this series. I’ve probably listened to it all the way through at least 4 times. When a new book comes out, I listen to it for the first time at 0.75x speed so that the book is functionally 25% longer.
Sometimes, I have to speed it up to normal through long unnecessary sections, but almost every minute of Mortimer was an absolute pleasure.

By the end of the book, Boxy is the strongest Doppelganger in the world, a dangerous adventurer, one of the foremost experts in the world of demonology, and a renowned hero. Oh, no wait, that’s all by the end of Chapter 1.
This book RAISES THE STAKES. Which is where so many series fall apart at the end of an act. Boxy absolutely has places to go from here, it feels like, even as it approaches level 100, its story is just beginning.
What would the history books call the one who surpassed Tol Soroth?
