While I thoroughly enjoyed both of Evan Currie’s Odyssey One and On Silver Wings series, this title was difficult to gain any traction to with either the characters or plot. The setting was some time in the late 21st century and the conflict was between the US and Chinese forces. However, the story played out in a rather predictable and flat manner. The main US marine character’s backstory was thin, as was his character role in general. The first 3 chapters were rather straight-forward aerial and ground engagements where one side was fighting a superior force. There was an abundance of 20th century military jargon like ATOL, ECM and such but, again, it was unexciting.

Paul Heitsch’s performance was okay but lacked the polish that may have helped making the telling of the story somewhat more interesting.
