I can’t decide whether the Borrowed World series or the Mad Mick series is my favorite from Franklin Horton. Fortunately with this installment that decision is no longer necessary. Horton has masterfully tied these two storyline together and simultaneously opened the door to so many new possibilities. Some authors in the post-apoc genre get saddled with the problem of stagnation. You can only go on looking for food, defending your property, and walking home for so long. Franklin Horton always manages to weave new action, and new outlooks on the situation into his tales.
