I just just finished doing the last nine books of cradle and I wanted something else and this seemed like a potentially good supplement.

First of all a lot of the same concept show up in this or at least a variation of it. For instance there are magical beings that when they die leave behind a Remnant even though they’re not called that.

Secondly almost everyone in some way shape or form influences the world through magic. But this time instead of being some weird Shaolin meditation it’s purely willpower and even people who don’t have a natural ability towards using this madra can still affect items

My biggest complaint with this series is that if you’re listening to it as an audiobook there are sometimes skips that happen. It’s a cute literary device that will is using but it can get confusing if you’re not paying close attention. Basically the story jumps back and forth from when he was a child to present-day captain Calder. That in itself isn’t bad you know but it can sometimes happen a lot and if you don’t notice the transition to the future or the past you don’t realize what the heck is going on. Overall I’d say it’s a slightly weaker series van the Cradle one but baldtrees a great narrator so I’m going to give it a chance
