“Fun” ride through a could-have-been scenario for some extremely well funded, efficient, and all-to lucky just in time preppers in 2020. As always, Kevin Pierce lends gravity and realism to the story.
Dystopian fiction regularly delves into conspiracy theories, worst-case scenarios and usually a healthy dose of the author’s own personal paranoia. And why not? When things go wrong is when the story gets good. But in this case, the continual regurgitation of Fox News nonsense and revisionist history really detracts from the story.
I think I will skip the next in the series and seek out an author who can stick to the narrative and leave the gaslighting for the talking heads.
