Narrator is great. Writing is amateur.

DNF’d. Only reviewing because I saw a lot of potential in the story. I would have loved to follow it. However, the writing was very amateur. There are PAGES UPON PAGES of exposition.

Every time the author had an opportunity to “do not tell”, he passed it up. Every stinking time. It usually doesn’t get on my nerves to have authors “telling” but this was an extreme amount. Literally page after page of poorly-told interactions in a passive voice. So much so that I can’t take it past 10% listened.

I’m sure the author will improve with time, since this is his first novel as far as I can tell.
