I’m not terribly fond of Emily Woo Zeller as a narrator. I’ve listened to two of her works so far. When doing the main character voice, she’s a bit whisper tone, like she’s trying to talk in a hushed voice. I’m terms of doing male voices, I don’t think she’s terribly dynamic. She can do one male voice just fine. But if she has to voice multiple males, it doesn’t go nicely. It sounds like a non voice actor trying to be a guy – fake and not close to reality. I think she did the subtle female Boston accept well, but I’m not from the area so perhaps I’m wrong. The middle of the book was my favorite when she didn’t have to voice as many male voices. Overall my personal dislike for her range didn’t stop me from enjoying the book, nor would it stop me from recommending it. I’m a big fan of the author and enjoy his writing style. His books have the ability to keep me listening when I should be going to bed. I tend to binge his works. This was a good palate cleanser in between series.
