I found this first book to be fun and well written. Honestly, it reminded me a great deal of something William D. Arrand/Randi Darren might write. This story keeps the crunchiness low and also doesn’t jump straight into harem elements. Though, however, there are quite a few hints that it is likely on the horizon. Magic system seems intriguing and I am looking forward to seeing it flushed out more as the series continues. Major characters successfully feel individualized and realistic for the setting. Though, I would love to see them flushed out a bit more as the series continues. As yet, there doesn’t seem to be anything particularly profound or provocative, but it does succeed as a fun and casual adventure story. Off to a very nice start so far.

Narration by JH is fantastic, as is pretty much everything I have heard from Soundbooth Theater. Awesome performance, as always.
