This book is not for the faint of heart or digestion. A compelling narrative of the life of a mentally aberrant individual, the inadequate diagnostic measures and the failure of the judicial system.

The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because I found the extensive descriptions of the brutal and sexual fantasies and practices of the main character (Shawcross) objectionable. Even the descriptions of the acts of the prostitutes were way overdone. Otherwise, there was much value.
