Really enjoyed the first book. Fin is a grumpy old guy and his persona is communicated wonderfully and fits the story really well. Yes, he cusses a bit, but it felt appropriate for the character. Finished book 1 and had to get book 2.

“Flame” turned out to be a filler story. Way too much detail, with chapters spent on each little step of the group’s “challenge”. Unfortunately, our grumpy Protag has let his tongue loose in this book. Now, instead of being a stereotypical “old fart”, he is no different than a foul mouthed youth. Too bad.

Not sure what the author was thinking, but, for me, this is the end of my journey with Fin.
