This is a great example of a single-parent small-town romance. It is told in first person perspective alternating between the primary characters, Harper and Logan. It can be read as a standalone book. While the sexual tension is rather high, the story is an amusing slow burn with only a couple of moderately steamy love scenes. There is low angst between the couple, but the heroine’s past is a source of angst and anxiety. The book contains some brief violence perpetrated by the evil ex. I enjoyed the somewhat funny interactions on the path to love, and the little boy was adorable. I recommend this audiobook to anyone who likes slightly gritty contemporary romances or romantic suspense.

The dual narration was superb! Gregory Salinas wonderfully brought Logan and the rest of the characters to life. His sexy, deep voice was perfect for Logan. I am also a fan of Stacey Gonzalez, who I first heard in the excellent “Beauty and the Bayou” by Erin Nicholas. Her funny and self-conscious inner voice for Harper was great! Both narrators had really good voices for the 5-year-old boy and the rest of the characters.
