I don’t even know where to start in how horrible this book was, and I love post-apocalyptic fiction… A trope of a theme: the protagonist is the only right-wing bastion of real sense fighting against corrupt leftists to a level of absurdity (and I’m a Libertarian). Said protagonist also listens to an “outside voice” that turns him into a grade-A prepper that hides it all from his idiot wife while he tries to convince her about his secret inner self. It almost read like a bizarre hidden romance novel, except his true love was hiding food on his property? The story goes positively nowhere, so that you have to buy several more books to hear about how he finally uses his daughter to manipulate his wife into getting into his secret, dark, food-hiding lust… no thanks.
