I really struggled to finish this novel, but did anyway because I wanted to see if there was some huge plot point I was missing (there wasn’t). Without giving away the story, the ending was incredibly obvious from the very first chapter, and I was frustrated for most of this because I was waiting for the science fiction aspect, not a novel focused entirely on crime and religion. The narration was also distracting because of the overtly grandiose tone, which on one hand fits Samael to an extent, but was irritating nonetheless.
