4 stars … Beneath the Stars (Sugarlake, 1) is a small town second chance romance told in the first-person point of view of Chase and Alina.
“Maybe sometimes you have to say goodbye, even when it hurts. Maybe that’s the only way to appreciate the hellos.”
Alina and Chase met when they were young and as they spent time together their relationship grew, they became best friends and eventually more until everything crashed down all around them pushing them apart. Years later when Chase returns to Sugarlake and when their paths cross again, their connection still burns bright like the stars in the sky and is too hard to resist.
Chase and Alina’s story was filled with banter, heartache, and eventually the love they were always meant to share. I enjoyed the side characters and I am looking forward to reading their stories. This was my first book by Emily McIntire and I am looking forward to reading more of her books.
Audio … Sarah Puckett did another great job of bringing Alina to life and she is the perfect voice for a southern woman. This was my first time listening to Steve Campbell and I enjoyed listening to him bring Chase to life. I really enjoyed the duet narration of the book.
