I’ve made it through the first 3 books in this series. The first book was actually very interesting since it focused very much on trading and commerce, a nice break from all the hero stories I typically enjoy.

The main character is just gifted at everything. In the first book, it’s not too bad since the focus is trading and studying, but it gets pretty annoying in the second book which spends a good deal of effort on Wong’s romantic endeavors. For most of the books, he’s a pretty passive and laid back guy, but when he’s hitting on women, he’s an old dude’s fantasy of a super suave man. All the girls fall for him without much effort.

Also, is Beverly some kind of wolf furry or other kin? She growls and does some strange stuff, and of course has the hots for the main character.

If you don’t care about experiencing a character overcome struggle, give it a listen.
