Cora Kenborn delivers another fantastic romantic suspense, the second in her “A Carrera Cartel” series and I loved every minute of it. This story drew me right in, capturing my attention and never letting it go, it is the type of book you can not put down because you need to know what happens next. Cora Kenborn is a master at creating complex storylines and characters I enjoy her writing style and how easily it is to relate to and connect with the characters. I also like how much depth there is to her stories and all the twists and turns in them making sure to keep you thinking and then blowing your mind with the unexpected. I adored these two characters, Mateo Cortes and Leighton Harcourt, two people from different worlds who have history together. Leighton is the Mayors daughter, her late father was a police officer and her brother Brody is an ADA. She met Mateo, Matty to her, when she was younger and the two just clicked. She is ready to plan a life with him when he ghosts her, never to be heard from again, that is until she is forced back home after some trouble. Her brother helps her out, she starts a new job and then she sees him, Matty, who goes by Mateo now and is a Lieutenant in the Carrera Cartel. Their reunion is not exactly a happy one, there are some unresolved issues between them. Leighton is in trouble, she does not know who she can trust and Mateo is not sure if she could trust her. There is never a dull moment in this book, the story is cleverly plotted and not everyone is who they say they are, there are betrayals all around and you do not know what side all the players are on. There is plenty of drama, angst, action, mystery, twists and turns, thrilling suspense and a great second chance romance. Cora Kenborn, thank you for another great story and emotional and thrilling rollercoaster ride.

???And for the amazing narration, Aaron Shedlock and Sarah Puckett were perfectly casted to bring these characters to life. They are awesome at portraying the characters, grasping each persona completely and playing that role with perfection. Aaron Shedlock played Mateo like the badass Cartel Lieutenant, his accent work was amazing, the Spanish and even the southern for Brody. Sarah Puckett’s Leighton was equally badass you could hear her strength and determination. Both were just as awesome playing the roles of the secondary characters as well. They set the perfect tone for the story, captured all the characters emotions and projected them into their performance. These two mega talented narrators are entertaining storytellers and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for another awesome listen.
