Overall its a pretty straightforward story within the genre with decent pacing and world/system building.

The MC is pretty unlikable for the entire thing… and I have a hard time getting wrapped up in a book with a protagonist I’m actively rooting against. (and not in a fun way like Frank)

His companion and guide is a warrior axe named Frank. This special item has full knowledge of the world but is restricted on the info he can give. It works because we are not constantly inundated with overly convenient quests and upgrades to make the MC too overpowered.
…We like Frank.
