I believe this to be one of these best books I’ve “read” in a long time. I’ll start by saying that you should take those graphic warnings in the description seriously. I found myself repulsed by the explicit parts of this book, to the point to that I almost stopped listening, but I’ve very happy I didn’t as I found that the story doesn’t linger on these scenes and they always serve a narrative purpose. In reading this book I have come to reconsider my views on storytelling, mainly the idea that the narrative needs to align with my values and viewpoint. I now questions why I should like or agree with the main character. It’s a difficult revelation to describe but ultimately I can distill my thoughts about the book and the series down to this: I find this story to be extremely well written, the pacing is perfect, the characters feel fleshed out and their actions align with their motivations and the pop culture references are pretty tame for this genre. The world is highly detailed, congruous, and contains a lot of depth. The sound effect and background noise added so much to the feel of the book and makes listening immersive, without being distracting. Lastly and most importantly, I am consistently surprised by the twists and turns that occur though out the series, even when they are foreshadowed. It’s as though the author has laid out a set of puzzle pieces for me. While I construct them into the picture, I believe the author will make, he surprises me by using them to build a doll house instead.

If you’re of age and can stomach the graphic and sexual violence, I think it’s worth your time
