This sexy 4-hour romance really hit the spot. It really delivered fun entertainment with its excellent duet narration, a hot Irish firefighter, lively dialogue, and low angst. I had not experienced any of A.K. MacBride’s books before, but this one really pleased me and got me hooked on her writing style. It is a light contemporary romance or rom-com with moderate steam that is set in a small American town. I loved how there was very little conflict between the cute pair. Some minor conflict is caused by the heroine’s overprotective brother and also by an unresolved issue in the hero’s recent past. I felt like I really got to know the main characters Rae and Griffin. They are both nice people who deserve a happy ever after. The audiobook lifted my spirits and put a bounce in my step. I heartily recommend this audiobook to all fans of sexy contemporary romance.
I was blown away by the amazing performances of the narrators Gregory Salinas and Lessa Lamb. They read separate, alternating chapters from the perspectives of the two main characters, but they perfectly matched the voices and accents of all the characters! Each narrator was amazingly talented at Griffin’s masculine voice with a gorgeous Irish accent as well as the heroine Rae’s pretty feminine voice with a Midwest accent. All of the other characters sounded authentic as well. I am definitely going to search out these narrators’ other work, and I dearly wish that they work together again soon. They expertly interpreted the text with vivacity, deft emotion, and intimacy.
