I had to stop listening momentarily, so emotional!

I thought book 1 of this series was intense but book 2 definitely met and exceeded that challenge! I was worried where the story was going to go and even though I saw the twists coming (at least the ones revealed and hinted at) in this book, I definitely enjoyed the pacing and the heartache Eden created and Kasi and Gregory embodied and performed brilliantly with. Kasi does an amazing job emoting and really getting into her characters. She is an instant listen from me, another 5 stars! I don’t think I have listened to Gregory Salinas previously and I thought he did a good job. I think his female voice could be a tad stronger, but definitely a 4 stars from me.

For the story, I don’t like to give spoilers but I totally went to read some of the reviews before finishing because I want so badly for Em to end up with Royal but I am not sure how he can redeem himself about all the stuff he does in this book. I also want so badly for the other Court guys to be good with Em and we see glimpses of that but Royal has them on short leashes. The utter heartbreak that Em has to deal with because of the news of her sister, the way her family acts afterward, and the Court doing their bullying got to me to be honest. I had to stop listening because it was a lot (sign of a great book to be honest) but when I was in a better headspace and not sad about something in the real world I was sucked right back in. The flashbacks with Paige and Royal were great, definitely added an element to the story. I know some people don’t like those, but I think it will help set the stage for Royal’s reveal in book 3 (and book 4 I guess haha). I think Ramses is an interesting twist, mysterious and not altogether forthcoming so I know we will be surprised with his storyline/secrets in books 3 and 4.

Cannot wait for book 3 on audio, the series keeps getting better and better!! I am telling myself to have patience and not read it (just because Kasi will make it more impactful if I listen haha) but its suuuuper hard not to hahaha.
