It always feels a little jarring to me when memoirs (or in this case, diaries) aren’t narrated by the author – after all, who can voice their own story better? But Seybert did a good job, and didn’t come off as if he were reading someone else’s words at all, to the point that I would often forget that the book *wasn’t* narrated by the author himself.
