So bad it’s good – Is this satire or for real?

The characters, the action, the plot is sooo over the top it makes you wonder if Turner is serious or winking at the reader. The narrator really put it over the top. The entire book is delivered like a movie trailer in that super serious tone from the “in a world…” school of narration. The plot follows the expected outline but amps it up so it could be ready as an FX series without rewrites.

Let’s be clear, our hero, Jon Reznick has all the macho qualities we demand of our action heros. Quite, strong, risk taker with giant …. Seems to work for him time after time as he is underestimated by the very evil villains.

The book has all of required elements presented as mega clichés. What’s not to like? Sit back, turn off your brain, and enjoy. No complex psychological twists here. Just retired special forces guy kickin butts and taking names. Why not?
