Story: I loved book 1. The story and narration were just swoony! Owen and Maddy’s story takes a little longer to get into but is still a solid second chance romance. There isn’t as much interaction with the family, which I missed, but we do learn more about the business and there’s a huge build up to Sawyer’s book. Owen and Maddy have a past and their chemistry is off the charts. Seeing them interact at work and the sacrifices Owen is willing to make for her really add charm to the story. Maddy’s interaction with customers has some fun comic relief. I rated the story a solid 3.5.

The narration fell flat for me. The male narrator doesn’t have a Cajun accent, and that was so well done in book 1. If you can overlook that though, his narration is fine, just missing the accent. The female narrator struggles with male voices in the dialogue. I sped the book up and it helped with this issue. Since I can’t rate the narrators separately, I’m averaging them.

I think book 1 was so fun, it would be hard to beat, but overall, I enjoyed book 2 and am looking forward to continuing the series. I really hope book 3 has a narrator with a Cajun accent because that was so impressive in book 1.
