This story started off pretty well, with interesting characters facing a believable set of challenges, but goes off the rails with a completely unbelievable premise that after an EMP lots of people will blame God and start killing religious people. That’s just plain crazy, and boring, and possibly intended as propaganda to inflame the divisions in America that are ruining this country.
I also find the constant bickering between protagonists tedious, and think at a minimum, if the author is going to write about guns in her stories, she should know a bit more about them.
