Absolutely loved both the book and the narration! Immediately upon finishing the audiobook I purchased the next audiobook, The Necromancer’s Dilemma, and the physical copies of each book in the series, as well as recommending the book to all my friends that also love queer fantasy stories.
Really great setting, I love that it’s a modern urban fantasy but not one where the fantastical is hidden. The take on magic, especially Angel’s necromancy was interesting and fun to read. Angel’s snark was magnificent. Simeon’s actions and his Irish accent had me swooning.
If I were to critique anything about the book, it’s really that the buildup of Angel and Simeon’s relationship felt very fast because the reader only sees their first meeting, and where they’re at now as the novel begins. I would have loved to see more flashbacks to other moments in the two years they’ve known each other.
