I’ve been loving this series so much. Rain, a ghost seeing police detective, and his partner in life and work, Daniel, are a great pair. It’s great seeing their relationship grow, and also seeing Rain gain more control over his abilities to communicate with and help the ghosts haunting him. In this book, Rain has to solve the murder of a young man and also figure out what happened to a serial killer’s missing wife and where he put the bodies of his victims. Surprisingly, the two cases, are entwined and Rain has to deal with a ghost who is menacing in his attraction to Rain. Of course, there is help in the form of Rain’s psychic mentor, the paranormal investigation crew formed by the police department, and from Rain’s quirky, hippy family. I love all the side characters that really fill out the story. There is a lot of tension and scary moments when Rain has to vanquish his first ghost, and a near death moment for Daniel that had me screaming inside. The end of the book offers up a sort of cliffhanger when the ghost of a killer who promised to see Rain soon (before he passed) shows up. Rain is gaining strength, but with both the ghost and Rain staring each other down at the end, I feel this story must continue into another book. Great narration by Kirt Graves, he is always awesome.
