I’m a big fan of the Awaken Online series and so I wanted to see what else Bagwell had written. I bought this book without reading anything even about it, I really didn’t care what about the summary or reviews, haha. I was then surprised that this series was also set in the Awaken Online universe. Well, great! I love that universe.
I was immediately pulled into the book with a new character and his backstory and a new view into AO. It was fun. If you have already been reading the other series and enjoy it, then you will certainly enjoy this series too. Off to the second book!
**side note on the narrator** For the original AO series, I felt that Stifel was a horrible choice. I really dislike it when the narrator is so much older than the main characters, especially if they are teenagers and the narrator is in his 50’s/60’s. Here, the main character is in his 40’s so it’s a little better, but I’m still just not a big fan of Stifel. He isn’t a terrible narrator, he just doesn’t feel like a good fit to the story. This is something more for a Wil Wheaton or Nick Podehl. I think the overall audiobook would be so much better with a younger, nerdier narrator.
