The story was decent, although somewhat predictable and the execution felt rushed. I felt like events often seemed forced just to move the story along the projected path. Like when Battle was caught he just walked into a huge posse; a man like Battle would never walk out into an area he could not see. There were other things that did not make sense to me (small spoilers) like 1) trying to outrun cars on a road when a horse could simply go overland. 2) As a preppy Battle was not aware that the virus had reached his local town. 3) Anna got shot but then carried on the next several days like it never happened 4) Anna risks it all for a nasty selfish women she hardly new.
I would recommend you “After it happened” before this one.
