I have listened to this series repeatedly, and I mean repeatedly. I’m probably on my 10th listen; I’ve lost count. Will Wight develops a complex world by peeling off layers of complexity like layers of an onion. You get a good introduction to the mechanics of the magic system in the first book before it expands in the second. Also I cannot shout Will Wight to the rooftops enough for writing strong, engaging, diverse female characters.
