I was a fan of Ezra Klein’s podcast on Vox. The last episode has aired and he is going to the NYTimes. He is very smart, had terrific guests, and really cares about our environment. When he said that, in his opinion, this was the most important book of the year, I had all the endorsement I needed. Unfortunately, this is not, by any measure, decent fiction, literature, or writing of any kind. From the outset, Robinson ploddingly advances his agenda without any character development and with deadly economic theory. The only thing that could have made this audiobook worse was a bad narrator and that has been supplied by a gallery of uneducated people with ridiculous accents. Finally, the only pleasure in listening to this junk, turned out to be laughing when words were mispronounced (not because of inflection) because nobody knew what they were saying. What idiots. But who else would agree to read something this awful? I’ve read hundreds of books on audible and this one takes the cake for ‘worst ever.’
