This was my first foray into the author’s work, and I feel lucky to have found it. The writing is mature and smooth. the dialogue is real and believable, except when it isn’t meant to be. The characters are as deep or as shallow as fits a story about perception. I just don’t know why it didn’t grab me. Maybe because there weren’t any new concepts? They are all good concepts, and put together in a coherent way… but I just found it all either odd or non-engaging. Well, except I liked the thing Bouton the arm and the thing someone tripped over (to avoid spoilers). I absolutely loved having different voice actors for different main characters. Both are skilled enough to make the different characters sound different, but two whole people just raised it to excellence for me.
