I came to this from the Black Ocean Mobius collection, which I enjoyed tremendously. Was hoping for more of the same in a more traditional Fantasy setting. It wasn’t quite what I expected, but it was still good, if just very drawn out.

Pros:
Love the idea. It took quite a while for me to get a grip on how the different stories intertwined, which I think is intentional. The lore is nice and fresh, at least to me.
Most of the characters are well done, and have interesting arcs.
It is long, so if you’re looking to stetch your credit, it’s hard to beat 70 hours

Cons:
I had to take a short break after the second ‘book’. I had spent so much time listening, I needed something else for a bit. There’s a lot that ends up feeling like it was tacked on as just extra.
Some arcs feel like they just peter out and don’t get resolved. Though I’m not sure the book could have handled more extra saga outside the main plotline. And some characters just feel flat and like they’re a story wrench; Their only purpose to be there to turn the story at the right time.

Overall, I enjoyed it, but if you’re looking at getting into it, settle in for a long listen, or prepare to treat it like 3 separate books, even though the break between 1 and 2 is pretty soft. I burned through the Mobius series in one hard go and it didn’t feel like it was very long at all, but this definitely didn’t get me into that ‘time flies’ state of mind.
